Freshwater eels are collected from paddy fields and streams within Sungai Besar and its surrounding areas during paddy harvesting seasons. These freshwater eels are voracious snakelike marine or freshwater fishes with smooth slimy usually scaleless skin and having a continuous vertical fin but no ventral fins. In Japan, most eels known as inagi are eaten raw. Eels are rich in omega 3 and tipped as the most suitable foods for Hirudinaria Manillensis' species as they contain high amount of blood proteins.
